Aesop's Fables

After reading a collection of Aesop's fables, the students had the chance to act some of the stories out in class.  We were treated to "The Fox and the Grapes," "The Boy Who Cried Wolf," "The Tortoise and the Hare," and two versions of "The Wind and the Sun."  One group is working on rewriting the script for "Town Mouse and City Mouse," so we will hear from them next week.
Enjoy the long weekend!

Last week

Thank you to all who could make it to our Read-In last week.  We had a good turnout and it was a lovely morning.
On Thursday morning all second graders were treated to a presentation by Indigo's dad, Kevin, who works in the robotics industry.  He told us that the most important skill one can have in his type of job is knowing how to work with other people.  Thanks Kevin :)
As you may know, the second graders collected lunch trays all week for a project that took place yesterday at Thompson's EXPLO.  We collected several bags worth and the results of the Green Team's creative collaboration will be on display in the Kindergarten wing tomorrow before being brought to Town Hall for next weekend's EcoFest.  Thank you to Eli's mom, Elizabeth, for inspiring us to get involved!!

Goodbye, Mrs. Charig!

Today we celebrated Mrs. Charig's last day in our classroom.  She read the special book we made for her.  She wrote us a Thank You card and gave us special mechanical pencils to use at home.
We will miss her!

Hands-On Science

Having learned about the properties of both sand and clay, the kids had a chance to make creations with both materials.  We added a matrix to the sand so that they would not crumble and fall apart when they dried.
